Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
Distribute and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Rooms, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.
Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.
Sterilize and disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments, package clean supplies, and maintain records for all instruments.
Transport sterilized items to designated areas and recheck instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
Ensure proper labeling and tracking of instruments, report missing items, and document replacements.
Communicate inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order updates and backorders.
Respond to emergency situations by ensuring timely delivery of supplies for emergency, trauma, and add-on cases.
Utilize technology for accurate record-keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Provide on-the-job training to new associates.
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization and adhere to service behavior standards.
Perform other duties as assigned, including potential overtime, floating to other departments, and on-call shifts.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively and work diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
Experience with computers and the ability to learn relevant software for Sterile Processing.
Capability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Willingness to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
Regular attendance during scheduled shifts is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room.
