Description:

Job Summary

  • Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
  • Distribute and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Rooms, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.
  • Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.
  • Sterilize and disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments, package clean supplies and instruments, and maintain records for all instruments.
  • Transport sterilized items to appropriate locations.
  • Assemble sterilized instruments, recheck for cleanliness and impairment, and ensure proper functionality of power equipment.
  • Track instruments using labeling processes, engravers, and documentation of missing instruments or replaced implants.
  • Communicate inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status and backorders.
  • Respond to emergency situations by ensuring timely supply delivery for emergency, trauma, and add-on cases.
  • Utilize technology and applications for accurate record-keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to new associates in the department.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization and adhere to service behavior standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including potential overtime, floating to other departments, and on-call shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
  • Experience with computers and ability to learn relevant software for Sterile Processing.
  • Capability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work nights and/or weekends.
  • Regular attendance during scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room.
