Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
Distribute and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Rooms, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.
Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.
Sterilize and disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments, package clean supplies and instruments, and maintain records for all instruments.
Transport sterilized items to appropriate locations.
Assemble sterilized instruments, recheck for cleanliness and impairment, and ensure proper functionality of power equipment.
Track instruments using labeling processes, engravers, and documentation of missing instruments or replaced implants.
Communicate inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status and backorders.
Respond to emergency situations by ensuring timely supply delivery for emergency, trauma, and add-on cases.
Utilize technology and applications for accurate record-keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to new associates in the department.
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization and adhere to service behavior standards.
Perform other duties as assigned, including potential overtime, floating to other departments, and on-call shifts.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
Experience with computers and ability to learn relevant software for Sterile Processing.
Capability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Willingness to work nights and/or weekends.
Regular attendance during scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room.
