Description:

Job Summary

  • Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
  • Distributes and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
  • Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
  • Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
  • Sterilizes and disinfects medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies, maintains records, and transports sterilized items.
  • Assembles sterilized instruments, checks for cleanliness and impairment, and ensures proper functioning of power equipment.
  • Tracks instruments using labeling processes, engravers, and documentation of missing items or replacements.
  • Communicates inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order updates and backorders.
  • Responds to emergency situations to ensure timely delivery of supplies for trauma and add-on cases.
  • Utilizes technology for accurate record-keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Provides on-the-job training to new associates.
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and adheres to service behavior standards.
  • May be required to work overtime, float to other departments, or be on-call during scheduled shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
  • Experience with computers and ability to learn relevant software.
  • Capability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room.
