Perform duties as part of the surgical team to ensure safe and successful operative procedures.
Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management.
Support system-wide surgical operations initiatives and safety plans.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure operating room and surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
Maintain sterile fields and ensure a safe environment.
Address sharps and fire safety processes.
Prepare operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
Assist with sterile processing as needed.
Support surgeons during procedures within the ORT scope of practice.
Identify and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Two years of Surgical Tech experience, including one year of CVOR scrubbing experience.
Ability to work nights and/or weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital.
Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist.
Additional Information
Training in the U.S. military may substitute for formal surgical technologist training.
Regular attendance during scheduled shifts is required.
