Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs computerized tomographic (CT) radiological procedures and may conduct general diagnostic radiology exams. Ensures high-quality imaging and patient care while adhering to safety protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Review clinical data and perform appropriate imaging studies.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain stock of necessary supplies.
- Set up equipment, analyze patient anatomy, and perform CT scans.
- Administer intravenous contrast media and monitor for reactions, providing immediate care if needed.
- Assist radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures, such as biopsies.
- Ensure radiation protection by following ALARA principles and using appropriate shielding and equipment settings.
- Manage PACS and RIS systems, ensuring accurate image delivery and study documentation.
- Follow clinical protocols and maintain high standards of customer service and teamwork.
- Document all procedures in medical and radiology information systems to support clinical and billing functions.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Work in hospital settings or ambulatory mobile units.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
- Occasionally lift or move equipment/patients exceeding 10 lbs.
