Job Summary:
Provide diagnostic Computed Tomography (CT) services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the supervision of a radiologist, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Position patients correctly using proper immobilization techniques.
- Perform optimal scans using appropriate technical factors, shielding, and protocols.
- Adhere to American College of Radiology (ACR) standards to minimize radiation exposure.
- Conduct advanced imaging techniques such as CT angiography, 3D reconstructions, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPRs.
- Follow CT department workflow, including patient identification, history acquisition, order verification, scanning, PACS image transfer, and documentation.
- Operate CT support equipment, including workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems.
- Initiate IVs for contrast media administration following department policies.
- Prepare patients by explaining procedures and addressing questions.
- Transport and assist patients during procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with radiologists to tailor protocols for specific patient needs.
- Document patient history, charge data, allergic reactions, and unusual occurrences.
- Maintain licensure and complete continuing education requirements.
- Administer contrast media after proper screening and consult providers as needed.
Required Education:
- Certificate of Completion from Radiologic Technology Program OR College Diploma in a related field.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography (Illinois Emergency Management Agency - IEMA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- One of the following:
-- Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT).
-- Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
