Job Summary
Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, UHS staff, and affiliated community groups.
Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory therapy procedures, including aerosol therapy, secretion mobilization, incentive spirometry, MDI therapy, suctioning, and extubation.
- Ensure oxygen tank safety and manage oxygen therapy on approved devices.
- Manage BiPAP/CPAP therapy, high-flow cannula therapy, and ventilator alarms.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as pulmonary function screens, fit testing, pulse oximetry, and EKGs (adult and pediatric).
- Provide BLS life support (adult, pediatric, neonatal) and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Conduct arterial punctures, blood gas analysis, and quality control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
- Utilize healthcare information systems (Soarian, MAK, McKesson) and verify physician orders.
- Maintain accurate records and reports for all procedures.
- Participate in departmental in-service programs and perform other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
- New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Up to 3 years of experience.
- Skills in attention to detail, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, time management, problem-solving, and technical expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
