Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing nursing care and ensuring patient safety during endoscopic and/or invasive procedures, with or without sedation. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and efficiency. The RN serves as a resource for students and new caregivers and actively participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Pre-operative care RN to assess patient needs and procedure requirements.
- Perform ongoing assessments and document changes from baseline status.
- Develop, implement, and communicate individualized plans of care.
- Respond to patient comfort needs and family health information requests.
- Apply principles of aseptic practice and monitor compliance within the surgical team.
- Educate, support, and reassure patients and their families.
- Utilize evidence-based research to enhance patient outcomes.
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing care.
- Document equipment usage and assist with inventory management.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health.
- Float to other departments or nursing units as needed.
- Participate in on-call duties during scheduled shifts.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with GI equipment technical operations.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and presenting technical and professional information.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Regular attendance during scheduled shifts.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- BLS (AHA) certification.
- ACLS (AHA) certification.
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
