Job Summary:
Evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical and developmental disorders.
Essential Duties:
-Requires detailed knowledge of physical therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done; this level includes interpretation of data.
-Basic computer skills required.
-Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting.
-Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
-Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
-Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well-being of the patient.
-Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
-Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
-Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
-Is a patient advocate.
-Other duties as assigned.
-Settings may include inpatient, outpatient, long term care, community based care and home health care.
Pediatric Physical Therapist: The following also apply:
-Evaluate and treat infants, children, and adolescents for various health conditions. Addressing motor development, strength, range of motion, endurance, balance, coordination, gait, etc.
-Interviewing children and family members, using physical examination to diagnose movement disorder.
-Ability to evaluate and treat patient from 18yrs old and older.
-Float to adult units if needed if pediatric patient census fluctuates.
-Evaluates and treats pediatric patients from birth to 18yrs old, regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
-Settings include inpatient, inpatient emergency department.
null Required Skills & Experience:
-Must have Inpatient and Outpatient Experience.
-Must have at least one year of Peds PT experience if working in Peds.
-Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to fast-paced environment.
-At least one 13 week previous travel assignment.
-Two (2) years current experience required in specialty.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-EPIC experience; can train on-site.
Pediatric skills preferred not required. New grads considered based on skills and confidence level.
Required Education:
-Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.
Preferred Education:
-Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-Must have a New Mexico PT License.
-BLS certification completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
