Job Summary:
The MRI Technologist operates and prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. They apply technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality studies according to written protocols and patient needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI imaging procedures and position patients/coils for optimal study.
- Provide patient education on imaging procedures, including nature, area to be imaged, and specific instructions.
- Review patient safety questionnaires before introducing patients into the MRI scan room.
- Ensure MRI images are labeled per department SOP and transmitted to PACS promptly.
- Complete studies in the Radiology Information System (IDX) in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment at the start and end of shifts.
- Scan patient-related documents and maintain necessary supplies in the radiographic room.
- Record patient tracking information accurately in IDX and schedule exams as required.
- Report equipment repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Assist physicians directly as needed and call for in-patients when required.
- Perform clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
- Adhere to safety standards to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room.
- Follow infection control policies and protocols to protect self, patients, and employees.
- Attend in-services and professional development meetings as required.
- Maintain licensure and adhere to Public Health Code regulations.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Required Certifications & Licensure:
- NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
- A.R.R.T. MRI registry.
- BCLS Certification.
