Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is a professional caregiver responsible for providing patient care through the nursing process, utilizing current trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy.
Essential Functions
- Perform responsibilities and duties specific to the ED scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to ED nursing.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
- Execute and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Ensure patient and staff safety by adhering to safety standards and reporting/correcting hazards.
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families to promote a healthy environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Identify personal learning needs and seek appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
- Illinois state RN License in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center or higher.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system.
