Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is a professional caregiver responsible for providing patient care through the nursing process, utilizing current trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy.

Essential Functions

  • Perform responsibilities and duties specific to the ED scope of service.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to ED nursing.
  • Complete initial patient assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
  • Execute and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by adhering to safety standards and reporting/correcting hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families to promote a healthy environment.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
  • Identify personal learning needs and seek appropriate solutions.
  • Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
  • Illinois state RN License in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • Experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center or higher.
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system.

  • Shift timings: Night
