Job Summary
Provide safe patient care following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital guidelines. Collaborate with internal and external customers, including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating patient care by supporting registered nurses, collaborating with health team members, and participating in performance improvement activities.
- Maintain asepsis, perform scrubbing duties, and communicate patient information to appropriate personnel.
- Account for all equipment and supplies used during patient care.
- Act as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing, following orientation guidelines and collaborating with patient care coordinators and educators.
- Ensure cleanliness of the unit and proper care of equipment used during surgical cases.
- Adhere to customer service quality standards and support teamwork within the department.
Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting/moving patients.
- Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and communicable diseases.
- Moderate to high noise levels and work under stressful conditions, including irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
Required Education
- High School Diploma/GED and one of the following:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist educational program.
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technology training program through a U.S. Military Training Program (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard).
Required Certifications & Licensure
- NBSTSA-Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
