Job Summary:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care specific to the medical/surgical unit's scope of service.
- Perform initial patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and modify plans based on continuous evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Administer medications and therapies, including IV access (Peripheral, Central Line, PICC, Infusaport), IM/SQ injections, and TPN.
- Assist with and manage procedures such as chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and thrombolytic therapy.
- Utilize patient whiteboards, rounding, and bedside reporting to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare technicians (HCTs) and validate task completion.
- Ensure patient safety through compliance with fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation protocols, and ambulation safety.
- Respond to emergencies and function effectively as part of a team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
