Description:
Job Summary
Perform clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks to support patient care.
Ensure patient care aligns with the philosophy of Beth Israel Medical Group.
Maintain professionalism and provide courteous, respectful service to patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
Clinical Tasks
Perform EKGs, lab tests, PFTs, and audiometry as ordered by physicians.
Admit patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and document medical, medication, and allergy histories.
Perform quality controls and adhere to CLIA regulations.
Document treatments, telephone contacts, and daily checks (e.g., oxygen, emergency box).
Notify patients of test results following physician review and instructions.
Administrative Tasks
Complete and forward patient referrals appropriately.
Register and transact patients accurately using the current computer system.
Update patient information, including medical insurance coverage and eligibility.
Schedule appointments and manage medical reports/lab results.
Process HMO referrals and balance ledger sheets, ensuring accountability for cash box contents.
Facility Maintenance
Maintain clean and orderly examination rooms and medical areas.
Stock examination rooms with supplies and verify vendor deliveries.
Maintain the patient waiting room and front desk area.
Communication
Answer telephones professionally, take messages, and ensure follow-up on calls.
Communicate patient emergencies to physicians promptly.
Provide discharge instructions to patients as directed by physicians.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
BLS certification.
Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school or two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of relevant work experience.
Excellent phone manners, flexibility, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in computer data entry and ability to handle diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
