Job Summary:
- Validate specimen identification and ensure sample type and size meet handling protocols.
- Prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times.
- Process specimens using tissue processors, ensuring correct solution order and program settings.
- Embed tissues and section blocks at a rate of at least 30 blocks/hour with proper thickness and quality.
- Perform routine and specialized staining procedures (e.g., AFB, MSN, Gram, Oro) on tissue sections or body fluid preparations.
- Cover-slip slides at a rate of 3 slides/min and distribute them for pathologist interpretation.
- Assist with liver biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and retrieve fresh specimens from various labs and suites.
- Perform inquiry functions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality over speed in routine histology tasks.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP).
- Associate's Degree in Science or Histology.
- Minimum of two years of paid experience, preferably in a hospital or reference lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with special stains, frozen sections, and non-gyn cytology processing.
Additional Information:
- Work schedule: 4 AM, Monday through Friday.
