Job Summary:
- Perform basic and routine diagnostic laboratory procedures, including isolation and identification of microbial pathogens from clinical specimens.
- Prepare specimens, operate automated analyzers, and perform manual tests as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of laboratory techniques, principles, instrumentation, and physiological conditions affecting test results.
- Assist with special projects, evaluate new products/instrumentation, and perform quality control procedures.
- Provide patient care, including organizing patient flow, assisting with mobility, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
- Support physicians during procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions, and answer patient/family inquiries.
- Handle clerical tasks such as managing medical records, completing forms, and using the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Enter orders into EMR or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
- Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
- Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization and infection control protocols.
- Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant or completion of a Medical Assistant program from an approved school with 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent phone manners, flexibility, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer data entry and ability to manage diversified responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
