Job Summary

• Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Supervisor and Medical Director.
• Provide care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.

Essential Functions

• Disassemble, clean, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
• Evaluate patient respiratory care results based on care plans.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge in respiratory care.
• Prepare, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment for safe operation.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to the manager.
• Accurately document respiratory care on EMR flow sheets and care plans.
• Complete assessments for ventilator patients and other respiratory care patients.
• Recommend interventions and further treatments as needed.
• Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation.
• Communicate adverse effects and compliance issues to physicians in writing.

Department-Specific Functions

• Evaluate patients for respiratory care therapy in inpatient units and the Emergency Room.
• Obtain and analyze blood gases (Arterial, Venous, and Capillary).
• Assist with cleaning respiratory care equipment and stocking supplies.
