The EEG Technologist performs neurodiagnostic tests under general technical supervision, providing findings, results, and descriptive analysis in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Clean and disinfect equipment following infection control policies.
- Perform all types of EEGs, including ambulatory, bedside, electrical cerebral silence, and standard lab EEGs.
- Document data in patient charts and lab files accurately.
- Explain tests and procedures to patients to ensure optimal results.
- Notify Neuroscience physician for grossly abnormal EEG tracings.
- Prepare patients for examinations and provide age-appropriate instructions.
- Troubleshoot equipment and arrange repair services as needed.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited EEG program (new graduates welcome) OR 2 years of hands-on EEG/EMU experience.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS (American Heart Association).
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- American Board of Registration of EEG/EP Technologists (ABRET).
