Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse (RN) provides safe, competent, and quality care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practices for patients in the Cardiology Unit at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care using the Relationship-Centered Care model and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs, applying critical thinking in care management.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Patient Experience

  • Model Mount Sinai Relationship-Centered Care practices, including bedside shift reports and purposeful hourly rounding.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Address patient concerns and escalate issues as needed.
  • Demonstrate empathy, respect, and active listening in all interactions.

Quality and Safety

  • Provide safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and evidence-based practices.
  • Document nursing practices to support quality and performance initiatives.
  • Escalate safety hazards or deviations from best practices.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.

Professional Development

  • Support colleagues, patients, and families in the care environment.
  • Advance clinical competence and participate in lifelong learning.
  • Incorporate ethical principles into decision-making.
  • Engage in shared decision-making through committees and unit initiatives.

Additional Information

  • Unit: Cardiology, 32 beds
  • Schedule: 3x12 shifts, including weekends and holidays

  • Work Authorization : US Citizen
