Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse (RN) provides safe, competent, and quality care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practices for patients in the Cardiology Unit at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver patient care using the Relationship-Centered Care model and nursing process.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs, applying critical thinking in care management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Patient Experience
- Model Mount Sinai Relationship-Centered Care practices, including bedside shift reports and purposeful hourly rounding.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Address patient concerns and escalate issues as needed.
- Demonstrate empathy, respect, and active listening in all interactions.
Quality and Safety
- Provide safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Engage in quality improvement projects and evidence-based practices.
- Document nursing practices to support quality and performance initiatives.
- Escalate safety hazards or deviations from best practices.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with leadership to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.

- Advance clinical competence and participate in lifelong learning.
- Incorporate ethical principles into decision-making.
